2012 was a very active year for GES engagement, with the total number of engaged companies reaching nearly 200. Additional resources were dedicated towards personnel and product development to deliver against our promise of the highest quality engagement services to GES clients.
In 2012, GES engaged with a total of 196 companies within different services:
– Business Conduct Engagement – 90 companies
– Emerging Markets Engagement – 84 companies
– Burma Engagement – 38 companies
– Western Sahara Engagement – 10 companies
Engagement processes involved 1015 individual contacts with companies including 94 face-to-face meetings and 81 conference calls. Furthermore, 160 days were spent on engagement related travel during a year.
Significant personnel resources were dedicated towards delivering excellence in engagement services as well. Through its 30 research analysts and 11 engagement managers, all of whom hold graduate degrees and have an average of over 3 years tenure, GES delivers 80,000 hours per year dedicated exclusively to the engagement process.
Additionally, GES representatives contributed to several international engagement events as invited expert panellists. The company celebrated its 20th anniversary by organising a seminar in London titled ‘What works in ESG engagement’ and sponsored ‘Investing in Responsibility’ conference, in the same city. GES also hosted highly topical webinars where clients and experts discussed latest developments.
GES engagement managers are now present in Europe, North and South America, as well as in Asia. This gives the company an even greater capacity to engage with companies all over the world.
