Magnus Furugård, President and Managing Director of GES Investment Services, has been nominated as a candidate for the upcoming election to the UN PRI Advisory Council.

In total, 31 candidates have been nominated out of PRI’s 685 signatories within the investment manager and professional service provider categories. These are eligible for four positions in the council consisting of 16 members. Voting is open for all PRI signatories until July 25.

Magnus Furugård from GES Investment Services motivates his candidature with the following statement:

“GES Investment Services has assisted institutional investors and asset managers within Responsible Investment for almost 20 years. We strongly believe in applying international norms as a common reference and engagement as a tool for improving company management of Environmental, Social and Governance issues. Consequently, GES joined the UN Global Compact in 2004, signed the UN Principles for Responsible Investment in 2006 and the UN Caring for Climate statement in 2008.

Already in 2005, we pioneered corporate engagement services by launching our GES Engagement Forum. Ever since, we have built a strong reputation for trustworthiness among clients and other stakeholders, which today is adding proven value to €650 billion of Responsible Investment worldwide.

GES’ commitment to PRI is very much in line with our core values and dedication to sustainable development as well as our own practical experience of RI. Thus, we are delighted over the successful development of the PRI and its tremendous impact on business. At the same time, we recognise the substantial challenges to maintain and further develop such an initiative and given our long tradition of being in the front line in our industry we believe we could contribute to this work through the PRI Advisory Council.”
