Managing Director Martin Pitura of GES Investment Services Poland has been invited to participate in an advisory group for Responsible Investment set up by the Polish Ministry of Economy.
The role of the working group is to produce recommendations to the Polish government for Responsible Investment (RI) in Poland as well as to promote this development. GES is invited as an expert given its almost seven years of presence on the Polish market and almost twenty years of international experience of evaluating and engaging with companies on Environmental, Social and Governance issues.
The group met in March and will continue to meet once a month during 2011. Each meeting will address a specific topic around Responsible Investment. The group consists of companies, organisations and institutions from different sectors in Poland, all with a common interest in the RI field.
Robert Sroka, Head of the Working group for Responsible Investment and CSR Expert at Employers of Poland, says: “I am very grateful that Martin Pitura has agreed to join the Working Group for Responsible Investment and to share his knowledge and experience. GES supports us to promote the understanding of the importance of non-financial indicators in assessing investment risk, as well as the general concepts of RI and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). This cooperation will be especially valuable in connection to a major conference in September during the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, where one of the main topics will be the issue of Responsible Investment.”
“I am honoured that GES’ Polish branch has been invited to participate in this working group. Responsible Investment is still in its early stage in Poland but interest has increased significantly the last year and will most likely strive to catch up on the RI development in Western Europe. I look forward to contribute to the group’s efforts in helping to shape this future,” says Martin Pitura.
